ABEs: My Vision for AI-Managed Businesses

2024-09-14 | AI

Picture this: businesses running without humans, growing globally, making smart choices, and optimizing everything – all by themselves. No CEOs, no endless meetings, just AI agents handling it all. Sounds wild, right?

AI’s growing faster than anything we’ve seen before. It’s mind-blowing how much has changed in just 3 years – both in what AI can do and how cheap it’s getting.

This isn’t some far-off dream. I’m working on making it real. I call it ABE – Autonomous Business Entities.

How ABEs Came to Be

The ABE idea hit me while watching AI and AI agents evolve. It was fascinating to see how much they could do, and yet how limited they were at the same time.

Confused? Let me break it down. Before we had Claude or GPT-4, there were agents running on GPT-3.5 that could build basic apps. Pretty cool, right?

But here’s the thing – that’s all they could do. One trick ponies, basically.

So I thought, what if we could create AI that could run an entire business? Not just one task, but everything. That question sent me down a rabbit hole, and ABE was born.

The ABE Blueprint

As I dug deeper, I realized ABEs needed a solid game plan. Here’s what I came up with:

  1. Business Definition Module (BDM): This is where humans set the rules of the game. This module will soon be repurposed or removed so we achieve full AI autonomy. But for now, I have to keep it regardless how much it sucks.
  2. AI Decision-Making Engine (ADME): The brains of the operation, making all the big calls. CEO sort of.
  3. Autonomous Task Execution (ATE): Getting stuff done, no human hands required.
  4. Data Management and Analytics (DMA): Crunching numbers and spotting trends.
  5. Human Oversight and Intervention (HOI): Just in case we need to step in and fix things. You don’t want your money go down the drain – unless you’re a crypto trader on leverage. Then you’re used to it.

What I’m Working On Now: Supercharging LLMs

The big challenge? Creating AI that can handle all the curveballs business throws at you. That’s why I’m laser-focused on fine-tuning LLMs for this job.

I’m not just teaching it business jargon. I’m building an AI that can think like a CEO, read the market, and roll with the punches.

Here’s what’s on my to-do list:

  1. Feeding it a ton of real-world business scenarios
  2. Teaching it to read financial tea leaves
  3. Boosting its decision-making skills when things get murky
  4. Baking in ethics and legal compliance from the get-go

The Hurdles Ahead

Building ABEs isn’t a walk in the park. Here’s what I’m up against:

  1. Making sure it plays by the rules (there are a lot of them in business)
  2. Teaching it right from wrong in the business world
  3. Keeping all that juicy business data safe
  4. Figuring out when humans need to step in

I’ve got some networking to do – need to pick some brains to level up my knowledge. I’m also on the lookout for companies brave enough to test drive ABEs in a controlled setting.

What’s Next?

I’m betting ABEs are the future of business. As AI keeps leveling up, the idea of businesses running themselves is getting closer to reality. We’re not there yet, but my work on ABEs is pushing us in that direction.

It will be interesting to see how ABEs will make businesses smarter, faster, and more innovative.
